Chainrings

Most of our stuff is 1/8th", as that's pretty much the standard for track and single-speed drivetrains. To work out what size chainring you want, you might want to be a bit geeky and work out your gear inches - hope this helps!

Calculating gear inches

Gear inches = Wheel size (inches) x Chain Ring Teeth/Sprocket Teeth

For example, Gear = 26.31 x 46/17 = 71.2 (700x23c wheel = 26.31")

Using a standard 700c wheel, gear ratios can therefore be lowered by either changing the sprocket for a larger one or having a smaller chainring.

Remember that gear inches can also be altered slightly by using fatter tyres as this increases the circumference of the wheel!
