With the current situation surrounding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we have setup this webpage to give the latest updates on the measures we are taking to minimise risks to our staff and customers, and the general public across our various services.
This page will be updated as new recommendations and information is released by Public Health England.
Last update: 4pm 23 December 2020 (Cambridge just gone into Tier 4)
Continuation of services:
We are offering most of our existing services but are operating on altered opening hours.
Our current opening hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8.30am-5pm and Saturday 9.30am-4.30pm
As per government regulations we have a comprehensive Covid-19 Risk Assessment covering all our activities and day-to-day operations. This is reviewed regularly to ensure it is inline with guidelines and the developing situation.
Examples of key measures are below:
Staff have been advised of the Public Health England stay at home guidance for people with confirmed or possible coronavirus infection, including showing symptoms such as a persistent cough, fever or loss of smell and taste, as well as guidance for self-isolating in the case of suspected cases in households.
We have implemented a hand-washing policy whereby all staff are required to wash hands upon arrival at work and upon arriving back from any offsite activities such as Dr Bikes or events. Mechanics are also using fresh gloves when handling different bikes and wiping down bikes before and after working on them.
Facecoverings are being used in our shop, during courses and for staff when away from their workstation.
We have segregated the building so our staff have minimum contact with our sister companies Outspoken Training and Zedify.
We are also disinfecting digital devices, door handles and key equipment such as phones on a daily basis.
Our shop is now cashless and we will only take payments by card or BACS.
Key information about our services are below but do contact us if you have any questions.
Dr Bikes & Fleet Servicing:
We are still delivering Dr Bikes and other mobile maintenance but with strict measures in place such as setting up a cordoned workspace, having contactless bike handovers, and clear signage on procedures and measures for participants.
We are still available for bookings. Contact us here to discuss.
Our shop remains open and we’ve made some adjustments to make social distancing possible:
- Preferably inform us by phone or email that you intend to visit.
- Avoid visiting in groups greater than 2 people.
- Maintain a distance of 2 meters from staff and any other customers.
- Wear a face covering whilst visiting the shop both inside and outside.
- Ensure children are kept with you at all times to maintain social distancing.
- Our staff are wearing facecoverings within the shop and outdoors when with customers
Bike drop-off Social-Distancing Procedure
We have implemented a dedicated workshop social-distancing procedure for those bringing bikes to the workshop. You can find more information on the service on the repairs page of our website here.
Collection & Delivery Service
We are temporarily offering a workshop collection/drop off service within Cambridge and the surrounding areas. If you’re working from home, self-isolating, or looking after the kids and you need your bike fixed get in touch. You can find more information on the service here.
With the annoucement that Cambridge is going into Tier 4 from 12 midnight Boxing Day we have taken the difficult decision to postpone/cancel any courses taking place while we are in Tier 4. At the time of writing we are about to close for the Christmas period within the hour and will make contact within anyone affected on our return in early January. We will be taking a decision on how far ahead to cancel/postpone once further info comes to light.
Prior to going into Tier 4 our courses had previously gone ahead, with some adjustments to make social distancing possible. Most significantly class sizes have been reduced from 7 people to a maximum of 4 from unique households. However if we go into a further national lockdown or Cambridge goes into Tiers 3 or 4 we will postpone courses scheduled during these periods.
We have also introduced facecoverings for staff and participants throughout any teaching.
If you are booked onto a course and you have any symptoms of COVID-19 (any persistent caught, high fever, and/or loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) please notify us immediately and do not attend the course. If you now live in Tier 3 or 4 please do not attend your course. We will be happy to transfer your booking to a future date. For more information on measures in place visit here.
