With the current situation surrounding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, we have setup this webpage to give the latest updates on the measures we are taking to minimise risks to our staff and customers, and the general public across our various services.
This page will be updated as new recommendations and information is released by Public Health England.
Last update: 11am 24 March 2020
Continuation of services:
After the news of 23 March lockdown, which currently excludes bikeshops, we have reduced our opening hours and are now operating with a very skeleton staff on site. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 11am-4pm. If you require servicing on those days but outside of those times do let us know and we’ll do our best to help you.
Staff have been advised of the Public Health England stay at home guidance for people with confirmed or possible coronavirus infection, including showing symptoms such as a persistent cough or fever, as well as guidance for self-isolating in the case of suspected cases in households.
Staff have been advised of the Public Health England guidance on travelling and returning from the category 1 and 2 specified areas and instructed to follow guidance at all times.
We have reduced the staffing on site to a skeleton staff, with others working from home where possible. Staff are spaced out in our building and mechanics are not sharing tools whenever possible.
We have implemented a hand-washing policy whereby all staff are required to wash hands upon arrival at work and upon arriving back from any offsite activities such as Dr Bikes or events. Mechanics are also using fresh gloves when handling different bikes.
We have also implemented a policy of asking all course participants to wash their hands on arrival for each day of their course.
We are disinfecting digital devices, door handles and key equipment such as phones on a daily basis.
We are also disinfecting bikes handled by the general public including workshop bikes and demo bikes.
Our shop is now cashless and we will only take payments by card.
We are temporarily offering a workshop collection/drop off service within Cambridge and the surrounding areas. If you’re working from home, self-isolating, or looking after the kids and you need your bike fixed get in touch. You can find more information on the service on the repairs page of our website here.
Optional Workshop Social-Distancing Procedure
We are aware that many people are looking to cut contact to a minimum but still need to get their bike serviced. We have implemented a dedicated workshop social-distancing procedure for those bringing bikes to the workshop. You can find more information on the service on the repairs page of our website here.
If you would like us to implement these procedures let us know when you make the booking. Please note that we cannot offer our Courtesy Bike service with the procedure at this time.
While courses beyond mid May are still going ahead as planned, if you are booked onto a course and you have travelled to any of the category 1 and 2 specified areas detailed by Public Health England, we require you to notify us prior to your course. If the Public Health England advice is for you to self-isolate during the period your course takes place please notify us immediately and do not attend the course. We will be happy to transfer your booking to a future date.
Latest guidance is available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas/covid-19-specified-countries-and-areas-with-implications-for-returning-travellers-or-visitors-arriving-in-the-uk
