Not content with looking after our customer bikes during the week on Sunday 12th March Rob and Richard, two of our mechanics, volunteered to help out at the London Youth Track League – Youth Omnium Event at the Lee Valley Velodrome, London. This is a qualifying event for the National Youth Omnium Championship.

The organisers assured us that there were more riders entered than at the recent Commonwealth Games. The mechanics role is to assist at the gear checking stage in the morning, assist and give advice on bike set up prior to the event starting and then to give assistance to riders throughout the event. This was necessary as coaches and parents are excluded from the track centre.
Rob said, “After the initial rush of setting up the Novice bikes and assisting with newly found mechanical problems the day was relatively quiet. It was a great experience to see some of the best Youth riders in the country racing hard as well as track novices getting their first experience of a busy race meeting.”
Rest assured the boys will be back in the workshop on Monday to get back to their normal work.
