We are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership between Outspoken Cycles and The National Trust! This July, we are bringing our passion for cycling and sustainability to one of the most beautiful Cambridgeshire heritage sites: Wimpole Estate.

Explore Wimpole Estate by Bike

For a trial period, we will offer visitors the opportunity to rent a bike and explore the historic Wimpole Estate grounds and breathtaking landscapes in an eco-friendly and fun way—by bike!

Renting a bike can add a fun element to your trip, helping you and your family get around the Estate quicker and giving you extra time to visit the impressive 17th-century mansion, vibrant walled kitchen garden and grounds. Explore acres of ancient landscape parkland by following the glorious 5km multi-use trail that encompasses the estate with abundant wildlife and a farm home to many rare-breed animals, including Shire horses, pigs, sheep, cows, and goats. Enjoy a refreshing drink or a bite to eat at the café with a terrace overlooking the gardens and not forgetting to visit the shop.

How do I book a bike at Wimpole?

From 23 July for 6 weeks, visitors to Wimpole Estate can rent children’s bikes, adult bicycles, or E-Bikes either in advance (online) or directly from the designated rental station at Wimpole.

When are the bikes available?

Bikes will be available midweek on the following dates between 10 am – 4 pm:

  • Tuesday 23rd July
  • Friday 2nd August
  • Thursday 8th August
  • Tuesday 13th August
  • Friday 23rd August
  • Thursday 29th August

What bikes are available?

We offer a range of sizes for children’s Frog bikes and adult Gazelle E-Bikes or Bicycles.

How much does it cost to rent a bike?

You can choose from a 2-hour or full-day hire, with prices starting from £15 for 2 hours.

(Helmets are available for purchase at a significantly reduced rate but unfortunately cannot be hired.)

You will need to bring a photo ID to hire a bike.

Here’s how easy it is:

  1. Book in advance by visiting our booking page. Choose your rental date, duration (2 hours or full day), and bike choices (and helmet if needed), confirm booking and pay. Then just bring your ID on the day of collection.
  2. Collect directly on the day: Ask at the main entrance where to find bike hire, then just turn up and bring your ID and payment (no cash).

Next, you have the freedom to explore scenic trails, gardens, and historical landmarks at your own pace.

Simply bring the bike back to the rental station by the end of your adventure before 4 pm.
